Zone Conference in Lubango

With Elder Richter in tow, we held a zone conference for the Lubango missionaries and had a good role play with Elders McAllister, Harper, Davis and Allison while the rest of us listened in.

Sunday in Lubango

Sister Violin always has such fun things for the children to do in Primary in Lubango. And they all love to sing. The whole church building is filled with the happy voices of children singing songs about Jesus and His gospel. After a youth fireside President Walton was able to get the General Conference broadcast and we watched the Sunday morning session while Elder McAllister held the WiFi. This may be the first time ever that members in Lubango were able to watch Conference live!

A Great Soccer Game in Lubango

The preparation day in Lubango this week included a soccer game at a beautiful indoor soccer field. The whole zone, some members, and nonmembers had a fun time and we had at least 5 teams going in and out. The Lubango group includes Elders Violin, Harper, Richter, McAllister, Allison and Davis with Sisters Violin, Walton and President Walton.

Airplane Contact

Missionary work in Angola is wonderful and unique. As we stood up to exit the plane, this young man behind us contacted Elder Richter all on his own. He wanted to know about the name-tag. So Elder Richter got all his information and continued to talk with him as we waited for our bags. The work here is a joy!

Life in Angola

After only one rainstorm, this dirt road turned into a lake and although it was a major thoroughfare, the many cars and trucks had to negotiate the mud as they traveled through. What will it be like when it really starts to rain? The shell of a bus was left on the side of the road in a Lubango neighborhood, so the kids found a good use for it. It has become their jungle gym and swing set. They are really having fun with this!

You've got to love the people in Angola. They are happy and they work hard. Mother's are so used to carrying their baby on their backs while carrying heavy loads like buckets of water on their heads. This young girl is probably babysitting her younger sibling as she hauls him around on her back through the neighborhood. The kids at school load up their backpacks but they also have to take their own chair with them to school, so they buy the plastic ones and carrying them on their heads. Just driving on the streets you will see so many fun things going on.

Elder Richter's Family Friends in Luanda

Elder Richter's family have family friends that recently moved to Luanda, Angola. Imagine everyone's surprise that he would see them on the other side of the world while he was on his mission. So we went to dinner at their house, enjoyed visiting with them and Elder Richter left them a spiritual message at the end of our visit.
